I’ve seen so many variations of banana bread recipes that I thought I would share with you my version, or rather a variation of my Sister-in-laws recipe for a CHOCOLATE Banana bread! Banana bread is so easy to make, if takes no time at all. If you saw me on my live on Instagram today this is the recipe all written up for you, so you can make it too!

Ingredients:

225g All Purpose flour (I used a gluten free flour)
1tsp of bicarbonate of soda
1/2tsp of cream of tartar
2tbsp of cocoa powder
100g/1 stick of butter plus a little bit for greasing your loaf pan (or use 80ml of vegetable oil for dairy free)
175g of caster sugar
1tsp of lemon juice
3tbsp milk (almond if making dairy free)
Zest of one lemon
2 medium eggs
Optional:
1/2tsp of Vanilla essence
Brown sugar to dredge on the top.

Method for your Chocolate banana bread:

Preheat oven to 180C or 400F
Put the Flour, Bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar and cocoa powder in a mixer and pulse to blend together, Add the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Then add the sugar and mix in briefly.

Whilst that’s mixing In a separate bowl mix the lemon juice and milk together and leave to stand for a minute. Then grease and line your loaf tin.

Mash the bananas in a bowl, then stir in the lemon zest, eggs and the milk mixture and the vanilla extract. Add this to the food processor and whiz until combined.

Pop the mixture in the loaf tin, dredge with the brown sugar and bake for around 60-75 minutes. When you can pop a skewer in and it comes out clean. Leave to stand for 5 minutes in the tin.

Serve with tea. Or Coffee, even wine if its been one of those days.
